On the New Jersey driving test, sharing the road questions are part of the 50-question exam. New Jersey requires a score of 80% (40 correct answers) to pass.
Our roads are shared by many types of users - cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, and even horse-drawn vehicles in some areas. Each has unique characteristics that affect how you should drive around them.
Large trucks have significant blind spots (no-zones), need more room to turn and stop, and create air turbulence. Motorcycles are harder to see and can be affected by road conditions that cars barely notice. Bicyclists have the same rights as motor vehicles in most states.
School buses require special attention - when their red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended, you must stop in most situations. Know your state’s specific rules about when you must stop for a school bus.
