Oklahoma Motorcycle Permit Practice Test 2026

Getting your motorcycle endorsement in Oklahoma starts with passing a 25-question written knowledge test at the Service Oklahoma. The motorcycle permit test covers riding techniques, safety practices, and Oklahoma-specific traffic laws as they apply to two-wheeled vehicles. You'll need a score of at least 80% (20 correct) to pass.

What the Test Covers

The motorcycle knowledge test is separate from the standard driver's license exam and focuses specifically on motorcycle operation. Expect questions on protective gear requirements, lane positioning, cornering and braking techniques, riding in groups, handling adverse road conditions, and avoiding common hazards like cars turning left in front of you. Oklahoma may also test state-specific rules on helmet laws, passenger requirements, and equipment standards.

Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Course

Many riders choose to complete an MSF Basic RiderCourse or equivalent state-approved motorcycle safety course. In some cases, Oklahoma may waive the riding skills test if you present a completion card from an approved course. The MSF course combines classroom instruction with hands-on riding exercises and is highly recommended for new riders regardless of whether your state requires it.

Endorsement vs. Separate License

Oklahoma adds a motorcycle endorsement (typically Class M) to your existing driver's license. If you don't have a driver's license, some states issue a motorcycle-only license. Either way, the written knowledge test is the first step. After passing the written test, you'll receive a motorcycle learner's permit with restrictions (such as no passengers or no nighttime riding) until you pass the skills test.

You can retake the written test the next day, as many times as you need, but only 2 attempts are allowed online: after 2 online failures you must test in person at a Service Oklahoma location. No wait is published between in-person written attempts. Each failed written or drive test adds a $4.00 fee to the $42.50 issuance fee, payable when your credential is issued. The drive test can be retaken up to 3 times at least 1 day apart; after a third failure you wait 30 days, and every attempt after that is once per 30 days.
